Renouncing living for overthinking,
Renouncing reality for imagination,
Contemplating the context for their contusions
To forgo the feelings of their healing
I am an owl that nudges,
At a time when eyes adjust to the dark,
A meeting point of dreams and reality,
Where nothing seems clear, yet everything’s right
An eagle of reality swoops,
away the mystery of the owl
I thought I saw them lose a part of them
that keeps them alive – the divine source, shrouded in mystery
They act like it’s alright,
To lose a poem about an owl to the ether,
They go on living without a piece of them ,
Thinking it could have finally completed them.
But I see them searching for an owl in my eyes,
Hoping to see a part of them in a part of me,
A part of me searches for the whole of them,
Lost in overthinking imagination, contemplating contusions,
To forgo the feelings of their healing,
In order to heal others with their injured words.
NaPoWriMo Day 13: Meeting a poet outside of their poems by @poemsindia
Felt quite uninspired by the earlier prompts on NaPoWriMo’s website and my work commitments made it easy for me to not write. Decided to take a stab at another prompt and since I had promised myself to not feel guilty, hope this poem was worth the wait.
Indeed, worth the wait. The weight of their feelings, the height of their healing reflected in your poem. Magnificent!
