where vulnerability goes to die
when the listener is self consumed
where love goes to hide when you’re not present
the hollow earth and its ravenous void
the space of no return
where lightning cannot be captured
the constant beating of the heart
consumes all friendships
chasing a lost memory
running on lost ground
i see the glimpses of remembrance
but forgetting makes a distracting sound
where the lively close their eyes
when time flees its demise
where it’s the end of you and I
the hollow earth or the end of my light

NaPoWriMo Day1: They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but they never said you can’t try to write a poem based on a book cover — and that’s your challenge for today! Take a look through Public Domain Review’s article on “The Art of Book Covers.”
This is so beautifully written, as always!

“where it’s the end of you and I
the hollow earth or the end of my light” – those lines are true magic, Rahul. This whole piece is so beautifully composed and authentically articulated. I reread that second stanza several times as it is so powerful in such a unique way. This is touching on so many levels, thank you 🤍🤗
