[179] Flashes Before I Died

This is my thinly veiled autobiography
Sirens whirling around me
Is this the end people talk about?
where your life flashes before you
where the moments you hold sacred
reminds you of your ignorance towards them

This is my thinly veiled autobiography
No one is breathing around me
It’s the kind of death we wish on enemies
where hurt flows inside as blood oozes out
It’s the kind of death we wish on enemies
It’s the kind of death I wished on me

This is my thinly veiled autobiography
For once I’ve achieved absolute clarity
when words fall into line like dominos
in reverse as I live life in flashback
like watching history fall back in
desires, intent, coping mechanism of the people

They’re all fighting to live a little longer
and maybe just maybe
this doesn’t mean anything at all
maybe this isn’t even my thinly veiled autobiography
it’s just my way of diverting attention from myself
that’s why I write about death so often
because this is how I remind myself that
I’ve finally started living

    – Wow! That’s such a powerful image, I just kept coming back to it.

‘It’s the kind of death I wished on me’ – we’re hardest on ourselves at the end of the day, aren’t we?
